Keep Your Hot Dog Cool

The Cool Canine and the Hot Dog
We are now into the "dog days" of summer, and holy smokes has it been stinkin hot here in the northeast. I know its real hot out west, but that IS the west and this is the north. Sorry, I'm just complaining. This is the time of year when you have to take care of those who might suffer in the heat if not taken care of properly. In this case, your wienerdog. Now Foozy is a sun worshipper and will try to lay out a little even on your hottest days. I say "are you guys crazy?, laying in the sun?, chasing after rabbits? Go inside." Miss Peaches will gladly hunker down on the couch in my air conditioned bedroom. She has the thickest coat (being a wirehair) and she's no dummy. Spaatz will go and stay as long as I go and stay. Fooze will have none of this hiding out in the bedroom stuff. He figures "what if Dad comes home and I'm not here to greet him, I might not see him at all. No sir, I'll be waiting by the door. You know where to find me," We all have our priorities, and Foozer will be waiting for the master.

Can we go for a Ride?? Can we?? Can we?

Waiting for the chauffeur
My three doxsons sure do love going for a ride. Most dogs do, unless its all about the vet, but the crew here love it. Sometimes I take them out for a quick spin around the block just to make them happy. Fooze usually sits in my lap because he just settles down and sometimes he will go to sleep. Miss Peaches can't sit still long enough, although she may try to double up with Fooze there is the one wienerdog rule while driving. Spaatz doesn't call shotgun for sitting on my lap quick enough and he doesn't really seem overly concerned about it.While they enjoy my PT Cruiser convertible, they also really like my husbands Suburban so the short dogs can enjoy the view of those who are not height challenged.
