Miss Sandie- Real Live Muppet

Little Miss Sandie, the rag doll puppy kinda reminds me of a muppet when she's not reminding me of a angry beaver. Her fur is all wild and crazy. Some of the fur on the top of her nose actually grows straight towards her eyes. I can't say that it bothers her, it bugs me, so I trim it for her so I can see her eyes. Then it's so much better to see my girl. Soon it will be time to shave the whole dog. It's gonna get real warm soon in NY so I always shave the wire hairs. Miss Peaches gets shaved regular through the warm months so she can be cooler and I can see any ticks trying to take up residence. Sandie will be getting trimmed up too. I'm not so sure she's gonna like it. She's not to hep on getting brushed, in fact she leaves the room when I brush Peaches just in case I get any stupid ideas about brushing her too. Shaving the dog is not the most fun task, you seem to end up with dog hair stuck to your face, but it makes them so much more comfortable, it's worth it.

Wire Hair Wednesday

I want to take up a tradition that used to be on the Long and Short of it blog, which was a favorite of mine but has stopped posting. It's Wirehair Wednesday, which my own Peaches graced the page a few years back. Wirehairs are awesome, which you know if you have one. They are the hunters of the breed and they are used for deer search, although Spaatz, a smoothie, would give any wirehair a run for their money.
So I thought I would start by sharing my wirehairs past and present. Top picture was Miss Peaches of course, the current diva of the pack. Next is good old Watson, RIP buddy. To date, the most awesome dog I've ever had. He was a standard size wire, game for anything. Then last but not least:
Little Miss Sandie, the new kid on the block. Very sweet and silly, loves to hunt, bark and lick, but not necessarily in that order. So right now I have a pretty full pack. How many dachshunds can you fit in a king size bed? Probably a few more if I sleep in the guest room. The only thing is if there were the possibility of a blue wirehair then I'd be there. Don't know if there is such a combination, it would be too awesome.
