I'd like to say that I've had big dogs, and have loved big dogs, but little dogs rule! They're always puppy size. They're portable. Which is great. If it's time to go outside and they're not feeling it. I just take them out. I might even put them as far away from the door inside the fence so they at least have to walk back.
Right now I have two senior dachshunds, so I do quite a bit of dog-toting. When I get up in the morning to feed the dogs Flynn just gets down off the bed himself. The old dogs know that it's just easier for me to carry them so they just get up and go right under my arms so I can grab and go.
The boys spend much of their days together, which is strategically close to me of course, which I appreciate. Most of the time. They are sun worshipers, as all dachshunds are. We are finally getting to the days where they can laze in the sun outside. Dreaming of squirrels and extra chewy treats.
Miss Sandie is mostly blind and deaf so I help her out as much as I can. She does know the house like the back of her paw so she finds her way around pretty well. It's amazing how well she knows the backyard too and can find her way back inside. All she really wants is a warm place to sleep and snacks.
Dachshunds puppy likeness also stems from the exuberance tha they bring to life. They are a fun loving active breed that doen't need a whole lot of space to get exercise.
I wish I could have a half dozen, but for now I'll have to settle for half of a half dozen.
