Spaatz can be very sneaky

Spaatz is a dachshund that can be a little more devious than your average dog. A couple prime examples is when we're all settling down to sleep and he would bark, essentially getting all the other dogs barking and running out of the room then settling down in his favorite spot. He must be thinking, "what a bunch of suckers". The other thing he has done on several occasions is at the moment he is anticipating getting a treat of some sort, he will go the front door and ring the bell he was trained to ring when he needs to go out. So my husband or I will say who wants to go out, and all the dogs will of course follow to go out, EXCEPT Spaatz. He will stand there and figure on getting all of the yummy things that may come his way. I'm thinkin "you bum, you ring the bell to get rid of your competition, then you stand here so you can get it all". This will backfire on him when he doesn't take in to account we're onto his master plan to get all the treats, and he has to wait for the others to return.

I'm sure he was in charge of the peanut butter cookie heist from a couple weeks ago. Good thing he hasn't figured out the computer or I'm sure I'd be getting a very large delivery from the grocery store of Milk Bones.

Peaches needs a snoballectomy

This is what happens when you are a wire haired dachshund and you go out in the snow. Especially that good packing snow. It makes instant snowballs on her under carriage. Then when I want to let her in, I don't want her taking all that in the house with her. I was going to do a little shoveling  and I wanted brush the snow off her and let her in. No can do. The snow is now incorporated into her curly fur. Try my best to pull it off her, not really doing it either. Did the best I could, let her in. Hopefully she won't go lay on my pillow.

Drabble and the Dachshund snout

The dachshund snout is a powerful tool, no doubt about that. The other important trait is the determination of those little guys. Never underestimate it. I usually don't, but one gets careless at times. I had to go out to the store, so I took the usual precautions to "dachshund-proof " the house. You know, closing doors to certain rooms, putting garbage cans up that might prove tempting. They never touch them when I'm around, but soon as I leave certain parties can't control themselves. I am their conscience, when I leave, dogs will play. So I left, thinking that all was secure, but I had forgotten about some Christmas cookies which I had left on the dinning room table. Most were in hard plastic containers, except the peanut butter ones were in a bag. OMG! the peanut butter cookies. I might as well have left a steak on the floor. Later on I hadn't realize they were missing until I wanted one, I asked my husband "did you take the peanut butter cookies?" He said he hadn't. He then discovered what was left of the bag the cookies had been in, shredded, not a crumb to be seen. I wasn't mad at them, I shouldn't leave such things on the table, and- very important, a chair pulled out enough for an agile little dog to jump up and pursue his quarry, the elusive chewy peanut butter cookie. Probably about 20 of them. What I really wish is that I had set up a camera to record the event. Who's idea was this? 3 out of the 4 dogs could jump up, although Spaatz is by far the best jumper. Then what happened? Was it a free for all? Did Peaches get any? She's not able to jump up like the others. Oh, to be a fly on the wall.
Did you ever see such innocent looking dogs?

I Give You - The Teddydog

Sandie does teddydog impression
I don't know about you, but when I was a kid I wanted my teddy bears to be real. Now as an adult I think I have come about as close as I can get. I give you the Teddydog. Miss Sandie and Miss Peachy are wonderful Teddydogs, Warm and fuzzy, all they want to do is hang out with you always and snuggle. Plus they have the added feature of the canine security system. Nobody can sneeze within a hundred feet of my house without them knowing. Today as we brace for a blizzard here in the north east the Teddydogs and their smooth haired counterparts have decided to keep the bed warm for me in case I should decide I need to take a nap. So thoughtful. Currently 13 degrees with the wind gusting to 9 mph and predictions of it getting much worse, I think they may have a really good idea. Let me tell you when you lay in bed with your body lined with 4 sleeping dachshunds, you are warm.

Happy New Year - Dachshund Style

Happy New Year to everyone! As you can see it was a wild party at the home of My Three Doxsons. What you see here is my lap with the gang in their favorite place. I'm watching the festivities on the TV, which were fairly lame. Hence the dogs just said "wake me in 2014" Hope you all had a safe festive evening and your dachshunds all had a warm lap to sleep on.

New Dachshund Friends

Sandie and Spaatz
Spaatz has a new friend in Miss Sandie. While Miss Peachy and Foozie are his close buds, they are a little older and not quite up to the lightning speeds Spaatz is capable of. Enter Miss Sandra D (dogger). Not only can she keep up I think she may be faster. She is about 3 years old like Spaatz. They love to wrestle and play and run around the house at high speed. Occasionally Foozie will join in who will be 7 next April. Peachy, who is soon to be 8 can't be bothered in participating in the melee. Although she will participate in hunting in the backyard. The team of Spaatz and Sandie with Peach an Fooze for backup there may be some unhappy critters out there this spring.

Dachshund or Angry Beaver?

I don't know, what do you think? There are those who think that Little Sandie, Sandra Dee here actually looks a bit like Norbert from the Angry Beavers cartoon. I must say at times there is a striking resemblance. Sometimes we call her Norbie Girl. She's not angry by any means though, in fact she's one of the happiest little dogs I know. Maybe its because we rescued her from the lady with the 15 cats, and now she has dachshund friends to play with and lots of good vittles.Whatever the reason were glad she's here, she's sweet and funny and a great addition to the pack.
